As you can probably tell by the fact that I've posted 4 consecutive blogs, we had a great weekend! :) Friday Ryan had a neuro practical, but I went to Secret Beach with some other spouses (see next post also). Friday night we went to dinner with friends (see another post below). Saturday morning we went with a group of friends to float the

Layor river, the largest in Dominica (according to my sources, with aren't too reliable). We had a blast. If anyone comes to visit us, we will definitely take you! I will write a whole post about it when I get some pictures. A couple of people on the trip had waterproof camera cases, so I'm waiting on them to email me some pictures. Anyway, it was tons of fun. Saturday afternoon Ryan studied, but he came home for dinner and stayed home afterwards (see post below where he is doing the dishes). Today I babysat for Craig and Ralna all day. They went sailing to Les Saintes (where we went last semester). I got there around 7:30 this morning and got home around 8:00 tonight. Needless to say, I was exhausted. We had a good day, but I'm so tired! Plus, my back hurts from carrying around a 2 yr old all day. William is 7, Sophia is 4 and John Walker is 2. Ryan came and picked us all up in the car for church. William and Sophia went to children's church, but John Walker stayed with us and slept the whole time. We kept passing him back and forth because he was heavy and the room was really hot. Later in the day I took us all to the pool. I felt so busy that I didn't even take time to go to the bathroom! When do you go to the bathroom if you have 3 kids and one is too young to leave unattended? Anyway, when Craig and Ralna got home John Walker would not let go of me. I felt bad because I was afraid it would hurt Ralna's feelings. When I left he was pretty upset and not long after I got home Ralna called and said that he was still crying and could I just talk to him on the phone for a minute. Basically, in a crying, 2 yr. old voice I heard "Thanks for taking care of me today. I love you." How sweet! And funny!
I learned a few things about myself this weekend:
1.) I don't like snorkeling. I don't like my face in the water. I don't mind the ocean, in fact I love it. I went swimming at Secret Beach, I just didn't like trying to breath through the gear and I didn't like my face in the water. I just walked/swam around with all the snorkel gear on and then "peeped" into the water from time to time. Kind of like I was playing peek-a-boo with the fish.
2.) I have a big head. It's really big. When we went river tubing we wore helments. Small helments were white, medium were blue and large were yellow. All of the guys had on yellow helments, and so did I. How embarrassing! My big yellow head was just announcing to the world that I have a man head.
3.) I like Dominica. Yep, it's true. I realized it this weekend. Maybe, by the time we leave here, I can say that I love it. For now, liking it is a big accomplishment!
I'm really frustrated because I have 3 good videos that I want to post and I spent forever trying to upload them - unsuccessfully! Maybe it will work another day...

God always answers our prayers. However, this time he made you happy in the meantime and that makes me happy!!!! Love you, Mom
Hey Ashley!
I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your time there now. I'm sure that it was a nutty transition from life on the mainland here, but it is an adventure of a lifetime and you'll have great stories forever!

Ashley,
Glad you are getting used to being so far away and still having a great time. From the pictures, it all looks beautiful. Thanks for keeping us posted. Your mom is excited about coming.
Tell Ryan to keep up the good work. We are all proud of all his hard work. Know he will be a good doctor.
I love seeing the pictures of all the little kids. Can tell from the pictures how much you love working with them. You look "so happy." We are proud of you too.
Love to you both,
Dianne S
