I've been reluctant to post anything new because I really, REALLY want everyone to read the post about giving to Clifton Primary School (see below). Thank you SO MUCH to those of you who have emailed me (childrenofdominica@yahoo.com)saying you are sending donations. I hope that more will do the same! :)
Last Thursday we had our first RSO board meeting. Meg had us to her house for breakfast. The meeting lasted nearly 2.5 hours! We have a lot to do! It is exciting, though. We are working to get a sponsorship program set up before the beginning of the semester. We want incoming families to be able to sign up if they would like a member of RSO to sponsor (or "adopt") them. We will give them our welcome packets with tons of helpful information, help them find housing, advise them what to bring with them, help them have their electricity set up (since it is prepaid, some families have had to do without power their first night on the island), tell them where to get water, etc. I think it could make the transition much much easier on them! There are 9 board members and we have delegated different responsibilities to different members. I am going to be in charge of the website next semester. Ha! What was I thinking? I guess I think that since I know how to do a blog now that I'll be good at doing the website? Hopefully, I will be. I am also going to be one of the two Ross "liasons" who keeps the communication lines open with the Ross administration and dean. We are having our picture taken tomorrow, which will be posted to the website.
Friday was a tough day for Ryan because he wanted to be at the farm getting ready for rifle season. If anyone killed a deer, it might cheer him up if you email him a picture!
Sunday after church we were invited to lunch with the RCF leaders and a few other guys. They asked Ryan and two other guys to be the leaders next semester, along with the 2 leaders from this semester who will be returning. I was very proud that they recognize Ryan as someone who loves the Lord and has the ability to be a wonderful leader for Ross Christian Fellowship. You may now call him Brother Pearman. =) I am going to be the RCF treasurer next semester, which means I will put the offerings in the bank, sign checks for our events and just keep up with the accounting. Hopefully, I should be good at that!
I guess that's about all that is going on here! This morning I cooked breakfast. That is worth mentioning, since it is a rare occurrence. Other than that, we are getting ready for our island Thanksgiving. We are all going to Ralna and Craig's for dinner, then to Kyle and Andrea's for games. I am taking homemade rolls, deviled eggs, hashbrown casserole and fudge (it wouldn't be a holiday without fudge, Nana!!!). We are counting down the days (literally, see the right column of the blog) til we see you all!
Oh yeah - a few things I forgot:
1. Ralna's mom wanted some fresh coconut to make a coconut cake so Theo pulled the van over, climbed the tree and got her one! He's our hero!
2. John Walker has been saying my name lately. He turned 2 on Sunday. Yesterday when I was leaving I said "bye, John Walker" and he said "bye, Sashi"!!! Most of you know, but Adam called me Sashi until he decided it wasn't cool anymore. I loved hearing it again! Esp. from a little person!
3. I talked to Eva Grace on the phone last night. She told me I'm her favorite family member. Sorry, guys.

Please pray for Jeremy as he will be going hunting on friday without Ryan to protect him. Happy Thanksgiving!! We can't wait to see you all! Oh, Ralna looks like a fun friend to have. Has she named her car like we all named ours in high school? emily
