Purple Turtle Beach

Kyle preparing to takeoff

I needed a lift to be able to reach the rope!
Andrea swinging around
Not sure why I did my leg like that
Ryan swinging above the mountains!

Up until today, being back has felt like a vacation! The weather has been perfect! Very breezy and not nearly as hot and miserable as it was the first week we were here last semester! The car has been fabulous. It's had some problems, and I'm sure there will be more...but overall we are loving it! (Ex. The side mirror fell off of the car. If you want to see if anyone is trying to pass you, you will either need to ask the passenger, or put the window down and hold the mirror out yourself. Don't worry, Andrea has a glue gun, so we're going to see if we can't reattach it somehow.) Friday night Ryan and I went to Blue Bay restaurant. We had never been there before and it is our new favorite restaurant! It is too far to walk, but hey, who's walking now that we have our new car?! I had the grilled tuna and it was so delicious. It tasted like it had been soaked in lime juice. The restaurant was right on the beach. There was a small dock with a bunch of little boats tied up. We noticed as one family finished dinner, walked out to the dock, got on the tiny boat and floated out to their sailboat. How fun! There were 3 families at the restaurant that were doing the same thing. I'm not sure why, but there are a ton of sailboats here right now. Wouldn't that be so cool? To just sail island to island? Saturday we slept in and then picked up Kyle and Andrea and went to Purple Turtle Beach. Again, too far to walk - which is why we had never been. It was way better than PBH! We actually had chairs to lay on and there weren't huge crabs running everywhere. There was a rope tied to a palm tree and people were swinging from it. We took a bunch of pictures and videos. Saturday night Mike and Marissa and Greg came over to visit. Yesterday we went to church at 11:00 and 5:00 and then had dinner with Adam and Rabbi. Today was the first day of school. I took lunch to campus and Ryan said the first day had been pretty good. He's at the library studying, of course! It's like we never even left! Really, the past month feels like a great dream. So far, we haven't been able to buy eggs. We've tried both of the local groceries twice and no eggs! Andrea gave me a few of hers, which someone else had given her. We have to share around here! Chicken is being delivered tomorrow, so hopefully we'll be all set up with our groceries. Tomorrow is orientation for the new spouses on the island. All of the board members will be working on that for most of the day tomorrow. Oh, and we love our new place! Way more than our old place! If you are ever planning to come to Dominica...come now! Before it gets hot again! :)
