Sounds of the City

When I was in New York a few years ago I bought a Tshirt that said "I love the sounds of the city". It's one of those really thin and soft Tshirts that is great to sleep in. Anyway, I would like to formally state that I do not love the sounds of the city after all. Our apartment is on the 9th floor and yet we can hear (very clearly) horns honking, tires screeching, sirens, people talking/yelling/laughing, etc. The worst sound of all is the beeping we are hearing every 30 seconds because our neighbors have a low battery in their smoke detector. It's enough to drive me crazy! We went to Radio Shack, Brookstone, and a few other places looking for a sound machine to help drown out the noises so we can sleep. We had one in Nashville, but who knows where that is now. The sound machines we found were all around $100, so we decided to just go buy a little fan to drown out the noise. We haven't found one yet. Ryan went to Walmart to get one and they only had really big fans and box fans. Since we live in a 1 bedroom apartment, we don't really have room to store a huge fan. Ryan has been practicing the letter he wants to write and stick on our neighbor's door. He even wants to purchase the battery for them to make sure they don't have any delay in changing the battery. :) Honestly, I don't know how it's not driving them crazy too. We can only hear it when we are in our bedroom so it's really only a problem when we're trying to fall asleep.
Other than the noises, I'm loving Miami! We finally got our apartment all put together how we want it and we had friends over to watch the Super Bowl yesterday. Saturday morning was really weird at the Pearman house. Nobody set an alarm. This was the first morning that I can remember since before we went to Dominica that we didn't set an alarm and it was just the 2 of us with nothing to do. We woke up and it was almost 11! We felt like we were supposed to be doing something - but we weren't! We fixed pancakes and bacon and just relaxed together. It was weird, but a really good weird. It's what being married was like before medical school. Everything would be perfect if I could only find a job. I bet I've emailed my resume to 15 different people and I have uploaded my resume to Monster and I have been searching Craigslist too. I also sent my resume to an agency that places people in jobs (temporary and permanent). Nothing. Oh well, I'm praying about it and doing all I know to do so I'm sure God will lead me to something. I got frustrated in my job search and I was watching a movie and I thought, "hey, maybe I should be a movie extra!". All those people in the background at restaurants and hospitals - I could do that! :)

What do you mean, an extra??? With all your writing experience, you could write the screenplay. Hope you find something soon. If not, relax and enjoy. It will all work out the way it should.

Love,
