Proud to be an AMERICAN!!!

This is the second time that I have spent the 4th of July outside of the good ole U.S.A. The summer before my senior year of high school I was in England on the 4th. I went to a big celebration on an army base and it was kind of weird celebrating our independence in the country that we won our independence from. Being outside of the U.S. on a U.S. holiday makes me miss home even more. RCF had a huge cookout and invited the whole campus. We fed around 500 people and Andrea and I worked at the condiment table for 3 hours. Here is a picture of the flag cake I made.

We're such patriots! All dressed up in our red, white & blue!
We were burning up!!!
Twins. Well, kind of.
God bless the USA!!!
Andrea braided my hair. I look like I'm 4. Hers looks cute. Mine, not so much.
Andrea basically made this cake by herself because it had to be made the same day I was making her sunflower cake.

This is a random post... I was reading on the internet trying to figure out why my hair is so frizzy and dry here (even worse than at home). Anyway, there was an article that said you should put warm olive oil in your hair and then wrap it in plastic wrap for 30 minutes. So, I did! And olive oil is expensive here!

I could kind of tell a difference. Not enough to continue wasting olive oil and not enough to justify the mess that it made! I was afraid I was never going to get all the olive oil to come out of my hair!

Well, I think it looks very silky!! Way to go. The cakes are beautiful especially that flag!!!
You can do that for Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day!! It looks like it took a lot of icing. Love, PDL

Well, we certainly don't look shiny in the picture from working at the cookout. (please note my sarcasm). Could it have been any hotter?!?

Your flag cake looked so much cuter than mine did. There is no way to line strawberries perfectly straight. You did a great job!!
