These are guineps. Also called Chennette, Akee, Canep, Kenip, Mapo, Skinip, Spanish Lime and Tjennet! I don't know what to call them, but the people in Dominica call them caneps, so that's what I call them now. The first time I tried them was about 2 weeks ago and I cannot stop eating them! Here is a description that I found on a Caribbean Fruit website: "This fruit has a rough but thin skin with soft jelly-like flesh. The slightly tart guinep grows in bunches and are usually eaten a small bunch at a time." Well, I've been eating them a large bunch at a time! I can buy one bunch for 1 EC dollar, which is about $0.37 USD. They have a huge seed in the middle and it takes a few minutes to eat one because you have to try to get all of the fruit off the seed. Anyway, they're my new favorite snack!Kyle's birthday was a couple of weeks ago. He was in Roseau at the hospital and Andrea was busy planning a surprise dinner party for him! He ended up coming home a few hours early, so we had to move the party planning/prep place from Kyle & Andrea's apartment to Chris & Katy's apartment. Andrea made Kyle's favorite foods and the party was a Cub's theme. We had the party on this deck on the beach and it was a lot of fun! It was very hectic pulling the party together, but everything worked out perfectly!
Andrea put sand and sea shells in these cups to serve as candle holders. We had veggies & dip, pasta salad, fruit salad, corn on the cob, chicken kabobs, deviled eggs and birthday cake.
The baseball park birthday cake.
SURPRISE!!!! (I REALLY love surprise parties! I'm just ecstatic to be a part of this!!!) That was for my SNL loving friends! ;)
Andrea brought this shirt to me from their trip to San Juan. Having something new to wear here is such a treat!
Wonderful friends! These people remind me of the verse that RCF used on our Tshirts:
"Pursue faith and love and peace, and enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts."
- 2 Tim 2:22
***Stay tuned for more because our neighbors, the goats, are proud new parents today! The little baby goat is the size of a little cat and it must have been born today. They were still cleaning it off when I saw it. I'm going to try to take pictures later. The goats are being pretty protective right now! I want to bring the baby goat home and raise it so that if I return to Dominica someday, we will have the kind of reunion that Christian, the lion, had with those guys. :) Also, Ryan's football team won the championship game on Friday! I'm going to post pictures, but my camera battery died, so I have to wait for someone to email them to me.

Can't wait till the next time we have a Party at Pickwick. YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know how much food is consumed there, but think you will be able to handle it after all the cooking you have done for the last year.
