We had such a fun weekend in Key West. We left Friday morning around 10:30 and thought it was only going to take us 3 hours. According to the number of miles separating Key West and Miami, it should have only taken 3 hours. Because of the fact that there is only one road/bridge to get us there it took us more like 5 hours! We had fun playing car games and eating snacks on the way there. We stopped along the way at the Cracked Conch cafe for lunch in Marathon. By the way, we think Key Largo is a big disappointment! And we sang the Beach Boys song a lot of times. :) When we got to Key West we unloaded all of our stuff in our 1 hotel room and headed out to have some fun. We went to a place on the coast where there were a lot of stores and restaurants and people out on the docks doing little shows (tight-rope walking, magic, etc) and selling all kinds of souvenirs. We shopped some and then watched the sun set before heading to dinner. I don't remember the name of the restaurant we went to, but when we saw they had "gator toes" on the menu we decided we had to try those. Unfortunately, they didn't have any. We basically spent the rest of the night just hanging out and talking. Ryan, Rabbi, and Adam played a hunting game for a while and they were pretty into that so Lisa and I just cheered them on. I was a little worried we would all be too crowded staying in the same room, but it actually turned out great and was a lot of fun. Saturday morning we all loaded up in my car and headed to the Waffle House. Then we went to the Southernmost Beach Hotel and played on the beach all day. They had a really great restaurant where we had lunch and the whole place was really cute and unique and looked like it should be in a movie. Saturday night we went out to dinner and then we played games in our hotel room until about 3:00 AM (we even had to order pizzas at 1:00). I had a bad cough the whole time and felt bad that I was keeping everybody awake all night long. Sunday morning we woke up and saw that the Easter Bunny had come! We couldn't believe he had hopped all the way to Key West! :)
Ok, so I packed a secret bag full of Easter baskets and goodies and I put them out Saturday night after everyone fell asleep. When Adam woke up Sunday morning he said "um, what's that over there?" and I said that the Easter Bunny had come and Rabbi woke from a dead sleep and yelled "whose Easter Bunny came?!" Everyone was pretty excited! Ryan and I went to church and then we all went to lunch at a really great restaurant called the Banana Cafe. We shopped a little more and then all shared a delicious key lime pie before piling in the car for the trip home. We took a lot of pictures, which I will have to share with you later because I accidentally left my memory card in my computer in Miami. So I'll get the pictures from Lisa, Rabbi, and Adam and post those later. My cough was worse Sunday night, so Ryan had to sleep on the couch. We went to the doctor on Monday and found out that I have what Ryan had already diagnosed me with...bronchitis. So, I'm on an inhaler and some prescription cough medicine, which have not helped so far. I can't stop coughing! Which means, no running for me right now. I may have to walk the entire 13.1 miles with my inhaler in my hand! Ryan wants all of y'all to know that I was going to come in 1st place, but now might not ONLY because of the bronchitis. :)
