A "Welcome Home" Gift...

We got back to Dominica at about 6:15 last night and arrived at our apartment around 7:15. We were exhausted! After Will & Jenny's wedding Saturday night we went to my parents' house to pack and change clothes. Then we had to run some last minute errands before Adam drove us to Memphis. We got to Adam's house around 2:00 AM and had to get up at 4:00 AM to go to the airport. SO, we slept about an hour and a half before our full day of travelling began! We had to go from Memphis to Atlanta to San Juan to Antigua to Dominica! We couldn't believe we made all of our flights, but are very thankful that we did!! So, as I was doing some things in the kitchen last night I noticed what looked like mouse droppings (the welcome home gift I was talking about). After Ryan discovered what it actually was, I was wishing that it was mouse droppings. I left our Brita pitcher (empty) in a cabinet and when Ryan pulled it off the shelf there was a giant cockroach living in it and it was just covered in roach poo! Gag. We looked at each other and Ryan said "I never want to drink water from this again, how about you?"! I said no way get that pitcher full of poo (and probably roach eggs) outta here! So we immediately got it out of the apartment. Now, some of you reading from home may think that throwing the pitcher away was drastic, but you probably have dishwashers, or at least hot water in your kitchen sink. Anyway, even if it was perfectly clean, Ryan and I would never have looked at it the same way again! Ryan started classes today and I've been out grocery shopping. We got a new store! And it's set up like an actual grocery! We're going to a meeting tonight about setting up clinical rotations. I talked to Rabbi and Lisa earlier today and they said we have 101 days left on Dominica. The countdown has already started, so if you think you might want to come to Dominica, you should plan your trip now! Our time here is winding down! :) Here are a few pics (I didn't take many) from our time at home:

Barkley was very happy to have us home.

First of all, I TOTALLY agree with throwing the pitcher away. TOTALLY. The picture of you and Barkley -- was he medicated. You see, we took care of Barkley a few days and well, let's just say, he was never that STILL. Glad your travels back to school went well. Know that we will be praying for you both.
love, norma
