Weekend Update

Friday night was bible study. Last week there were 5 women in our group. This past Friday there were 10. Now usually I would say the more the merrier, but with the 10 women came 9 children. All of the kids went into our bedroom to watch a dvd. Unfortunately, they also had markers and cookies. By the end of the night there were marker and chocolate stains all over our comforter, crumbs all over the floor (which means more ants) and even muddy little footprints in our shower. Needless to say, I didn't get too much out of bible study because I could hear all of the commotion in our bedroom and I felt like I was going to have an anxiety attack. After bible study several of us went to campus for the movie. There is a movie playing every Friday night. We saw Evan Almighty. One of the little girls, she's 4, realized that the story was a spin off of Noah's Ark and she got so excited and started squealing "This movie is about Jesus! I love this movie so much!". When she realized that the movie was not following the bible story correctly, she became very upset and started bawling. It was pretty cute.
On Saturday I went with about 11 other spouses and about 11 kids to a "resort" called Sunset Bay. That is the only place I have been to that has a pool. The kids got to play in the pool and they had a lot of fun. There were a lot of big iguanas there and the iguana poop is huge. Bigger and grosser than dog poop. I'll post some pics of Sunset Bay later. Saturday night we were very happy that Tennessee beat Georgia. Ralna had some wives over to her house for dinner because all of the husbands were in the library studying. I really like the fact that all of the wives have teamed up and are constantly planning things to keep each other company. We're like a support group. That's basically it for the weekend. If the day stays pretty, we might go to the beach when Ryan gets home from school. If we do, it will be the first time since we got here that we have both gone together. I'm coming home on Thursday! I literally cannot wait!!!

Oh Ashley, I am so sorry you are having a hard time!! I cannot imagine living without the conveniences of modern American life. I can't even go camping because it makes me so miserable! I am praying for you! You will get used to it. I know that sounds trite coming from someone who has never set foot on your nature isle or even gone camping for longer than 24 hours, but oddly enough, God has a way of helping us get used to tough circumstances. I am sure its really hard having to go through this with Ryan by your side only 2 hours a day!! Hang in there girl. It will get better for you. I know it will. Hey, at least you don't have a baby or kids - could you imagine trying to care for them without all the modern conveniences here? Anyway, I will continue praying for you. I am so proud of you guys for doing this!!!! I googled "banana spider". Oh my gosh. Stay away from the bananas!
