Last little bits of Miami

So far I love clinical rotations. Ryan has been home every afternoon! We've been going to the gym together and have finished season 6 of 24 (we started season 1 at the end of April). For all the time I did not see him the first 2 years of medical school, this feels like the complete opposite!
We are all set to move to New York. We have an apartment in Midtown and are leaving Miami next Friday. We will drive to Nashville and then fly to NYC Sunday morning! It's going to be busy. We are getting ready for a drastic temperature change but we are getting really excited about our short 12 weeks living in NY. So far my parents are coming to visit in October and then again for Christmas with Adam & Theresa. Ryan's parents are planning to come visit, but the date is TBD. Paige, Dave, Beth, & Michael are coming in November and Julie, Emily, Marissa, and Brooke are coming in December. With all of the fun we're going to have, I think our stay in NY is going to fly by and we will be living in Atlanta before we know it. I haven't even started thinking about that yet! One thing at a time...

This is the shirt I wore on the plane from Nashville to Miami. Ryan loved it.

While we were home we accidentally dropped Ryan's glasses when we were loading the car. Since we didn't realize it, we proceeded to run over them with the car. Luckily, Ryan was still able to wear them and the damage was not very noticeable. :) The nice people at Eyemasters fixed them for us for free.

The day before Rabbi and Lisa left Miami we went to Gator Park to use the tickets we bought back when Andrea came and we got rained out. Being on an airboat in the middle of the Everglades in the summer is hot, hot, hot! When the boat would stop to look for gators, I would be sweating so much that I wanted to jump in the water...but then I remembered the water was full of gators and decided to just melt away on the boat.

The lady behind us didn't seem to be enjoying the heat either.

I brought a scarf because I usually get cold on boats. Not this time.

This past weekend we went to a new place that we love and can't believe we didn't know about until now! I pretty much hate South Beach as a local. The only way to experience it is if you stay in a hotel on the beach. As a local you have to drive a long way, pay a lot of money to park blocks away from the beach, walk to the beach, find a small spot in the middle of the overly crowded beach, deal with the half-naked people lying inches from you who are listening to loud music and smoking, go to nasty public bathrooms that are probably out of toilet paper and soap, etc. This past weekend we went to the northern part of Miami Beach, parked right by the boardwalk, had tons of beach to spread out on, and were able to use a hotel's swimming pool, clean bathrooms, and great restaurant. It felt like we were on vacation! The ocean was perfect. I just walked right in without slowing down at all because the temperature was perfect! I hope we get to make a trip back before leaving next week!
