Here is the poem I wrote for my rehearsal dinner speech:
The day we brought you home from the hospital I thought you belonged to me
I referred to you as "My Adam" and no one disagreed
We had so much fun growing up together - playing dogs and walking like Egyptians
Riding bikes up and down our street and spinning in big Mary Kay boxes in the kitchen
Ringing bells Christmas morning to see what Santa brought
And sitting on the roof outside of our window - I don't think we ever got caught!
You always called me Sashi and we were quite a pair
We played outside all day and then got checked for ticks in our hair
So many family vacations to the beach and to the mountains
Remember when you thought that bidet was a water fountain?
Trips to the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, and more
Summers at the river - did we ever get bored?
Games of Dominos, Spades, and Bingo with the Master
Tacky Christmas sweaters and caroling, our singing was a disaster
I cheered through hot baseball games in Memphis, Jackson, and MTSU
And I sat in the 10 degree weather and cheered for your football, too
Whatever sport you were playing I was always in the crowd
Who you are both on and off the field has always made me proud
I loved watching you play ball and know that God blessed you with such ability
Your hard work and dedication to achieve your goals is something that inspires me
When your buddies first told me about Theresa, I knew you had a crush
Whenever we said her name your dimple popped out and you blushed
The first time I met her and she opened her mouth
I quickly gathered this girl you were dating did not grow up in the South!
The more I was around you I could see that this Tennessee boy
Was falling pretty quickly for this girl from Illinois
Tomorrow will be a wonderful day, when you become Mrs. and Mr.
Ryan and I are excited to gain such a wonderful sister.
When the music starts and Theresa walks down the aisle
I might shed a tear, but I'll have a big smile
I am so proud to have you as my friend and as my brother
I'll stand by your side as you and Theresa pledge your lives to each other
Theresa, tomorrow is the day you have dreamt of since you were a little girl
The day when you will marry your best friend in the world
I always wanted Adam to marry someone who loves Jesus with all her heart
Someone who is caring, compassionate, fun-loving, and smart
Someone who is beautiful, kind-hearted, supportive, and true
These all come to mind when I think of you
My mother always told me to marry the person I could not live without
To Adam that person is you, in my mind there is no doubt
I am honored to be a part of the happiest day of your life
When you will become Mrs. Adam Warren, united as husband and wife
Our family is so blessed and our hearts are full of joy and love
I pray your life together will be filled with many blessings from above
Tomorrow people will gather from near and far to celebrate with you
God will knit your lives together as only He can do
My prayer is that you will have a long life full of love and laughter
And after tomorrow I know that you'll live happily ever after

Mom's side of the family minus Andy and Ryan. Ryan thought pictures were over and was hiding out in the air conditioning so Andy had to run find him.

Hey,
I guess you and Ryan are back in Tennessee now. At least I hope you are...and resting from a long summer.
I took your advice about the fund raising...here is my site: http://www.active.com/donate/JoePRallyRun/kathypeabody
Let me know what you think. I was also wondering if people give money through this site...is it tax deductable? Someone asked me and I said I thought it was, but I can't see where it says that on the site.
Thanks for your help. Enjoy your time off and I'm praying for you as I know you are both anxious as to what's in store ahead. You're on an adventure, right?
Love,
kathy
(p.s. I tried to send you an e-mail, but it failed...can you send me your address?)
