"Rudy, Rudy, Rudy"

Just a little line from the infamous movie, Rudy. Last night as I was standing at the gate to get on my flight from Miami to Nashville Rudy Giuliani walked right into my gate and stood a couple of feet away from me. Now, I'm definitely not on the same page with Mr. Giuliani on a lot of political issues, but I was still very excited! I'm more "star-crazed" when it comes to politicians than celebrities because politicians have power. I think it would be so exciting to be an influential person. I took a picture of him on my cell phone, but I don't know how to post it. Anyway, as I was sitting on the plane I started thinking about how, just the night before, I posted that I might write a thank you note to a politician. This was my chance! I pulled out some paper and started writing quickly because we were getting close to Nashville. The letter ended up being a page and a half and the flight attendant delivered it to him. The flight attendant came back and told me that he was smiling while he was reading it. Here's the gist of the letter:
- I told him that Ryan and I were living in Dominica and that we had been following the election very closely.
- I told him that my women's Bible study group was praying for the election daily.
- I told him that I purposely scheduled a visit home this week so that I could cast my vote.
- I mentioned that I had just posted on my blog that I didn't know why anyone would want to be a politician because you constantly get criticized, but never thanked. I thanked him for all he does.
- I mentioned that, if he needed an idea for a Halloween costume, I had the perfect idea. I explained how I was a ballot box for Halloween one year and described how to make the costume.

I wrote more but I won't write about that because I don't want to start a political debate! Just wanted to let you know about my excitement last night! Move over "Joe the Plumber", it's time to hear from "Ashley the Bread Lady"!

Glad you made it home safely. Sounds like you had an exciting flight with RUDY. That is great that you took the time to write him a letter and to actually get it delivered to him personally.

Haley says it sounds like you need to make the wedding cake. Your cakes are just beautiful and I know they are delicious.

Sorry we won't get to see you this trip. Hope you have good luck in Miami apartment hunting.

Love,
Dianne S
