Frogs, Pigs & Cookie Monster

The kids at the Ross day school were having an art show this past week so Andrea and I decided to make some treats for them. I had a lot of fun making these cupcakes! It took a long time to color all the frosting, but time is one thing I've got here!

Pigs pre-nostrils.
Now he's ready!
Cookie Monster :)
Nothing too exciting happened this week. Ryan has a big exam this coming week, so he has been a studying machine. Please pray for him to do well and for all his hard work to pay off! Andrea introduced me to Shutterfly last weekend and I have spent a lot of time making fun projects on that! Yesterday I got locked IN our apartment...again. This happened once 1st semester too. This time it was really not my fault. We have a deadbolt lock and a normal lock (that you twist with your hand) on our door. The twist lock was stuck. I mean, it wouldn't budge. So even though I had a key to unlock the deadbolt, I couldn't get out. Ryan was in ICM (intro to clinical medicine...I think that's what it stands for) so Lisa came home to let me out. Today I went with RSO to Cabrits to go snorkeling, only I didn't snorkel. I just floated around on a float. After Cabrits we went to the pool, where basically every spouse was hanging out! All the students have big exams on the same day, so all of the spouses have been abandoned this weekend. Have you ever seen the Lifetime show Army Wives? It's about a group of women who never would have met or become friends if their husbands weren't in the army, causing them to move away from their hometowns. I feel like I could make a show called Ross Wives. We are definitely a unique group from all over with all different religious and political views and we get close really fast because when our husbands are in the library (which they are 97% of the time) all we have is each other!
So, in Dominican news...it has been hot hot hot and we have been paying ridiculous amounts of money to be able to turn our air conditioner on. Prices of everything on the island have gone up due to gas prices (which are even worse here than they are at home). The price I pay for milk has gone up 33% in the past couple of weeks. And it's not even good milk! It comes in a bottle on a shelf (not refrigerated) and has a year shelf life! Does that sound like real milk to you??!Enough about that depressing information...Monday is my birthday party! We have rented a big bus to take us to dinner at a restaurant about 30 minutes away. There are about 20 people going and I am very excited! Andrea has been secretly working on my birthday cake (she even had Katy bring something back from the States for the cake) so I can't wait to see what she's been up to in the kitchen. Now that we're so big into baking cakes I think we think we can make any cake we find online. I chose the design I'm going to make for her birthday and am a little worried that it's a little out of my league. But it's fun to try! Hopefully after we get this big test out of the way I will have more fun and interesting things to write about! Happy Father's Day to our Dad's and to Grandaddy and Papa! We miss you!!!

I think an Elmo cupcake would be really cute!! I'm so jealous about your "party bus" birthday party tonight. Take lots of pictures! Have fun.

Elisabeth - To make the pig snout you just cut a marshmallow in half and then I just put a little melted chocolate on it for the nostrils. To make the pig ears you cut a marshmallow into thirds. They're really fun to make! :)
